new release: you could be a cop / amid the old wounds split LP

norway’s you could be a cop and amid the old wounds from germany team up to deliver 4 emo songs each on this beautiful split LP. ycbac provide almost 20 minutes of dreamy, heart on your sleeve, nostalgic indie-emopop with postrock-bits not unlike rainer maria or jejune. atow offers up 4 songs at roughly 12 minutes, 3 of which have been written almost 18 years ago but mostly left unnoticed (although one of them has originally been performed by wishes on a plane), the fourth being a cover version of no use for a name’s ‘let it slide’. musically you can again expect living room athmosphere recordings of an acoustic guitar and a voice, heavily influenced by early 2000’s emo heroes like the get up kids, the new amsterdams or bright eyes.
records have RPM speed numbers handstamped onto the center labels (33 for ycbac, 45 for atow) and come in a beautifully designed cut-and-paste-collage-style gatefold cover. available in sky blue and black vinyl. this will officially release august 23rd, you can order it now for a chance to hold it in your hands on release day.

we also made some videos to some songs:

wishes on a plane – self titled ep out now and tricktape restock

after receiving great response on the posthumous wishes on a plane record “unreleased” in spring 2020 the band decided to unearth more songs that were self-released back in 2003, mostly to a small audience of friends, family, and visitors of local shows. this self titled EP was their first actual release and shows the band’s earlier songwriting stages with a softer and more straight forward, introverted, almost shy style of songwriting, arrangement and production. The songs were remixed and remastered keeping both an eye on portraying the soul and feel of the original recording, but also providing modern sound aesthetic.

this is a digital release only, available via bandcamp and all big and small streaming platforms, you can either visit your preferred platform directly or check out this following page which includes some links:

new vinyl by respire, catacombe, rýr and toundra

Some great records have just arrived from narshardaa records, especially if you are into the heavier side of postrock this may be something for you:

toundra – II 2xLP
even if TOUNDRA are slowing down sometimes, they are kicking ass like a perfect new formed band outta the ashes of KYUSS and RUSSIAN CIRCLES and this without rocking the same boring riffs for hours and hours. Another band nobody is talking about, which is destroying almost every other band playing similar shit now and forever.

catacombe – scintilla LP
redefining post-rock with deeper harmonies and hypnotic, unpredictable rhythms – there are heartwarming breaches of light cutting through the massive walls of sound.

rýr – left fallow LP
“left fallow” combines crushing and heavy riffs with spherical clean sounds in a non-standard yet intuitive way to balance different sets of emotions within individual songs.

respire – dénouement LP (half red/half black vinyl)
his record… is an attempt at closure. a reflection on a decade spent gasping underwater. a reflection on trauma, addiction, guilt…

respire – black line cassette
A band embodying the notion of community is a sight for sore eyes as the world moves into post-2020; Canada’s Respire stands firm as one of the most forceful in the realm of new screamo and post-hardcore bands, pushing what it means to encourage diversity and representation within the roots of art.

new vinyl by eyes of tomorrow, nordend, by a storm, ash return, new hate rising

some classic hardcore releases from fellow german label dedication records have just been added to the shop.

eyes of tomorrow – settle for more LP
If you are into Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Madball or Sick Of It All then you really should be adding the name of Eyes Of Tomorrow to the list but then you know that already, don’t you?

why not combine an order with the band’s debut 7″ from 2018:
eyes of tomorrow – gone for good 7″

nordend – gegenwind LP
metallic hardcore, mixed with samples, breadowns and singalongs. limited to 100 copies

by a storm – your voice your weapon LP
German oldschool Hardcore rooted in the NYHC scene. Think Agnostic Front mixed with Sick Of It All mixed with Madball and then add some German HC school a lä Rykers/Miozan and you get an idea. Their second album.

ash return – the sharp blood of integrity LP
Consistent heaviness with catchy melodies, hardcore and metal easily form a symbiosis, blitzing guitar solos with fist raising singalongs, diverse vocals extending from deep growls and hardcore shouting to virtuoso Bruce Dickinson heights doing the rest. Hardcore will be Hardcore!

new hate rising – miles LP
From rock to metal to hardcore, NEW HATE RISING remain true to their style and their versatility is reflected in each of the twelve new songs.

manifestation / relations split 7″
manifestation play aggressive hardcore with a lot of oldschool influence and a bit of 80s metal, relations play a pissed off style of hardcore influenced metal with german lyrics

wishes on a plane – unreleased now available digitally

after being out for a few months on CD, LP and digital download through bandcamp wishes on a plane’s posthumous release ‘unreleased’ is now available from spotify, apple music, deezer, and most platforms your heart could desire. please help us out by streaming, even if you own the record already! this will let us know you are interested in digital releases and may help funding more old stuff from woap.

stream on spotify
stream on apple music

clocking in at a little over 30 minutes playing time these unearthed 5 songs, intitally recorded in 2005 show the band’s musical origins, before screamish and post influences kicked in and formed records like ‘this faint line’ (released in 2008). mostly influenced by classic mid 90s emo bands and recordings such as jimmy eat world’s ‘clarity’, texas is the reason’s ‘do you know who you are?’ or the get up kids’ and christie front drive’s entire discography, some 00’s pop punk like the ataris and a more mature take on emo like elliott on ‘false cathedrals’ we get a suprisingly poppy at times, yet fragile and imperfect record, unconventionally arranged, rough and rocking that deserved to rise from the old harddisk it hibernated on for almost 15 years.
